Yoga - A Path of Self-Knowledge and a Way of Life

I started practicing yoga at the age of 12, thanks to my mother. Every Wednesday, we would gather in my hometown of Gabrovo at the "Swami Sivananda Saraswati – Advaita Venanda" yoga club, which is one of the oldest in Bulgaria, founded in 1987. I am so grateful to my teacher, Stefan, who introduced me to this world and the skill of controlling my body and mind.

I learned many breathing exercises and techniques that help to calm the perpetually buzzing thoughts, aid in focus and concentration of the mind, and provide more energy and oxygen for the body.

By incorporating a very good body warm-up and executing the specific "poses" or asanas of yoga, I achieved flexibility, endurance, and strength. Every asana has a name, meaning, and activates a specific "chakra" or energy center within us. The blood circulation is activated, and thus we achieve a healthier body. Yoga teaches us to know our body and consciously connect with it, because it is our house, our temple for our soul.

After the practice, there follows a time for the body to rest and integrate what has been achieved. Guided meditation or "Yoga Nidra" which takes the consciousness on an internal journey for complete relaxation and deep insights.

In my practice, I always include time for meditation, connecting with our heart, with our inner fire or place of gratitude and appreciation. This process helps us connect with ourselves and our soul, in a natural way.
